Ready or Not.
So the week is here... I'm talking just 4 more days (I don't count the day we have to show up at the hospital at 5 a.m. - That doesn't count as a full day to me.) Anyway, my big girl panties are wearing a little thin - and you all know I'm talking about my metaphorical panties, right? Not real panties... but I digress. I told Mr. Favorite today that I feel like I've been a good sport about some pretty big deal kinds of things lately and I've not complained or been irritable. I'm proud of myself. I think a lesser woman would have thrown a fit, but I'm staying true to my belief that sometimes the only thing I get to control is my response... and as my dear friend, K, shared a few weeks ago, we wives are either building our houses up or tearing them down. I choose to make my home a peaceful place. It certainly helps that none of it is Mr. Favorite's choice nor can he make any other arrangements on these things. It just feels like I've been such a good sport for so long and I'm growing a little weary. So, as we count down the next four days, be praying for me. Ask the Lord for grace as I get ready to welcome this sweet little one to my peaceful world. I love my sweet little life.

More Than Just a Good Idea.
Before Big was born, I read a photographer's article on showing time through photographs. One of the most precious examples was of a father and son's hands, the photos taken on each birthday, showing the progression. Of course, in the beginning the father's hands were large and appeared young, but as the son's hands grew into a man's hands, the father's showed aging and eventually it was the son's strong, younger hands that supported the father's aged hands. In just a few photos, a story was told. I decided I wanted to do that, too. On the day Big was born, I had Mr. Favorite put Big's hand on his - I was too out of it to realize it was WAY overexposed, but you can still see well enough. Then, just this last week, as Big turned one year old, we took the photo of Big's hand on Mr. Favorite's. I like that already there is a representation of relationship there. Do any of you have traditions big or small that you do each year to show time? I'm not above stealing your ideas.

The Sweet Life.
I'm glad to report that I've not been blogging for a good reason... I've actually been out doing fun stuff, but I took my little camera along for most of it, so here goes:
Date Night with the Boys...
Mr. Favorite and I both like going somewhere, doing something on Friday nights. It helps to make our weekends feel longer. So, last Friday night we took Little One out on our date night. Lots of fun to have him with us. He's such a good sport.
We had dinner at Carrabba's - one of our faves - and then went to Kohl's because my little guy is growing like nobody's business and I can't seem to keep up with laundry fast enough for him to not grow out of something before I get it cleaned. I'm only kidding a little bit. It's crazy.
Then, we got to go to my very favorite of all time sno-cone place... Oh, goodness. It is a good thing it isn't convenient to go there. The guy who owns and runs the sno shack is obviously gifted for business. He probably is already, but if not, he's going to be very, very rich someday... and he's just a nice guy.
See me with my oh-so-happy-that-I-got-to-have-a-sno-cone face?
And, then, Saturday we went to my school's graduation - I say "my school" because not only did I spend from 4th grade through my own graduation there, but I also went back and taught for 4 years there before having Little One. Just before we found out that Little Too was on his way, Mr. 80'sRock asked me to consider teaching again next year. I was flattered frankly. It's nice to feel like I would be welcomed back. If you've ever wondered what someone thought of your job performance, I think being asked to come back would kind of answer that for you. :) Anyway, since Little Too will arrive in October, it isn't going to work this year. Oh, I guess I got sidetracked here - I'm just noticing that the pic below was supposed to remind me that I was going to mention that this fabulous chica was the only, yes only, girl in the graduating class at our school this year. I think there has got to be some kind of reward for putting up with those boys and still being a very sweet, very kind person at the end. Yea, Miss M!
Whew... we're about to get there folks... stay with me...
On Sunday, after Mr. Fave had to go work on football stuff, I decided to run out to Mom & Dad's just to have something to do. Dad took Little One out to "lock up" and just moments later I look out the window to see Dad driving the tractor. I just thought this was too fun... I love, love, love that Little One has my dad for a grandpa. These pictures represent to me just the beginning of the fun times they've got ahead of them. Makes me a little emotional thinking of just how loved my Little One and Too really are.

And, lastly... Yesterday was the season finale of 24. Our regulars were gathered, minus 2, and we just kept thinking that something was bound to happen... really, surely this can't be it... well, with just 4 minutes to go in the show, the DVR in the living room stopped
. AUGH! My mom came to the rescue and was able to get to the last few minutes on the DVR in their bedroom... So, we all gathered in there, again, thinking surely SOMETHING would happen. No. No. No. It was one big dud. It felt like when I was in school and would realize I had written enough to satisfy the requirements of the assignment and I would just end it. It was that lame. So, so very lame. But here we are just before realizing just how lame it really was:
